National Nestbox Week will take place on 14th - 21st February 2025. This annual event aims to encourage as many people as possible to install bird nesting boxes in their gardens, and if you want to get in on the fun, Really Wild Bird Food can help.
Not only do we stock a fantastic range of nest boxes for wild birds, but we're also giving away a FREE 30g bag of nesting wool with every nest box or pouch purchased during National Nestbox Week 2025.
This locally-sourced sheep's wool should be placed in a cage feeder so that your garden birds can help themselves and create a nice, cosy nest. Don't fill the nest box with wool yourself - let the birds make it their own!

We have also reduced the price of the NESTBOXES: YOUR COMPLETE GUIDE. This book is published by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) and it normally costs £10.99 - it's packed with instructions, illustrations, and useful advice to help you make the most of your nest boxes.
The book also includes species-by-species profiles of the birds most likely to make use of your nesting boxes, plus a foreword from TV wildlife expert (and face of National Nestbox Week) Nick Baker.
Why put up a nest box?
Nest boxes give wild birds a cosy home in which to rear their offspring.
UK birds are currently short of nesting holes, and population numbers are decreasing as a result of this avian housing shortage. Gardens, parks and woodlands are neater and tidier than they used to be, giving birds fewer natural holes to nest in. New-build homes are also part of the problem because they have fewer suitable nooks and crannies.
But don't despair - you can do your bit to help, and putting up a nest box or two is a great place to start!
Common nesters include...
- Blue tits
- Great tits
- House sparrows
- Robins
- Starlings
...but installing a nest box will also boost your chances of attracting rarer species to your garden!
Even though it's only February, we are already starting to see lots of activity in and around the farm as birds scope out the best nesting locations to raise a family. So we strongly recommend putting up your own nest box ASAP!
