What Do Nuthatches Eat?
Nuthatches love to eat insects! Brown-headed nuthatches will use bark to pry up other pieces of bark on a tree, to access the insects beneath. That's why so much of the nuthatch food in our selection is made of suet. You'll find that most nuthatches will quite hapilly eat suet pellets, or even live mealworms.
It's easier than you might think it is to put out mealworms for birds like nuthatches. Simply drop them on a bird feeding tray and wait for the local wildlife to take an intrest.
If you'd rather use seeds, that's fine too, as nuthatches aren't particularly fussy eaters. In winter, nuthatches will eat both nuts and seeds. We'd reccomend black sunflower seeds, which are a favourite food for nuthatches.
Peanuts are also a great choice. The premium peanuts in our above selection of nuthatch food are enjoyed by many different birds, making them a great choice if you want some variety at your bird feeder.
